Flushing is located on the borough of Queens in New York. Founded by Quaker settlers, you can visit many historical homes such as the Bowne House and the Old Quaker Meeting House. Nearby is also the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the United States Tennis Open.
The subway is the best way to get around; a direct line can take you to Manhattan's 34th Street, Times Square, Fifth Avenue and Grand Central Station. The major highways serving the Flushing area are the Van Wyck Expressway, Whitestone Expressway, Grand Central Parkway and Long Island Expressway. There are also several buses and taxis that can take you to any destination. You’ll find many hotel options to choose from in Queens; plenty are dotted along Northern Boulevard.
One of the city's most popular celebrations is the annual Lunar New Year Parade, which celebrates the Chinese New Year. Home of some of the largest supermarkets with fresh produce and cutlery; be sure to head over to Hong Kong Supermarket or the New York Supermarket for a taste of what the locals love.
