South San Francisco is a small and cozy suburban city, nestled in the San Francisco Bay Area of California; the area is notable for its easily accessible public parks, pleasant walking trails, and close proximity to the city of San Francisco. One of its most recognizable features is the landmark Sign Hill, which proclaims South San Francisco's historical identity as the Industrial City in huge concrete letters.
South San Francisco is a popular place to find a hotel, for visitors to the Bay Area, because of its easy access to the San Francisco International Airport (SFO), the BART transit system that services the city and the East Bay, as well as the Caltrain transportation system. The Oyster Point Marina offers a ferry service which takes visitors to Oakland, and Alameda in the East Bay.
This town enjoys mild weather and is protected from storms by the hills to the west. Downtown offers many dining options both historic and modern, including a bakery that has been in business ever since it opened its doors over 100 years ago.
Visitors can also take advantage of the South San Francisco Farmers Market at Orange Memorial Park, between the months of May and October, where local farmers can sell their fresh, California-grown products directly to customers.
