Great except for showering.

Everything was perfect except for the shower in my bath. Day 1, I couldn’t get the water to come out of the shower - water flow was strong and the right temperature if you wanted a bath but not if you wanted to shower. I asked a random cleaning person what I was doing wrong. And from Day 2, water came out of the shower, but it was tepid ( cool?) and came in tiny dribbles.

Very convenient, centrally located, clean, good breakfast and nice front desk people. Bathroom shower door has an opening, not fully closed so water from the shower flow to the floor.

Good condition in the room. Although, the room was facing inside the building and there were a lot of chiller fans running non-stop. This is annoying, although they are in general not making noise, being quite silent.

Good location and price. Compared to other hotels which were massively overpriced. Easy to get to from the airport. Use the BART train from the Airport terminal straight into Powell St station, a short walk to the hotel, very easy. Nice city break

The staff were fantastic, particularly the front desk staffer Carmen! She was very helpful and sweet. The hotel room was clean and spacious. The location is central to everything and quiet at night.

The Barnes is in a great location, right near Union Square. That's its main virtue. The room we were in had air conditioning that wasn't working properly (the staff engineer had to come in and change the cable running to the outlet), and there was dust caked on the bottom of the unit. The property is old--understandable--but it appears neglected and in need of attention. We interacted with two staff members. One was quite friendly and pleasant; the other wasn't. Despite its location, I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Not particularly extraordinary or unique in any way. I chose this hotel due to its affordability in comparison to other nearby hotels—now that my trip is over, if I were to do it over, I would pay the premium to stay at a different, more remarkable hotel. The Barnes Tapestry is just OK. Average, gets the job done, friendly enough staff.
