St Louis is on the eastern border of Missouri approximately 60 miles north of the historic town of Ste Genevieve in Missouri's wine country. Take an elevator to the top of the Gateway Arch to see the city from above. If you are interested in a family outing, check out the animals at the St Louis Zoo, or explore the interactive exhibits for children at The Magic House. You can see deer in the wildlife management area at Lone Elk Park.
If you want to be close to specialty shops and restaurants, you can stay in one of the hotels near Union Station. The Union Station Metro Link station is just a block from Union Station, and you can take a Red Line train from here to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (STL). Union Station is near Interstate 64, which runs through Missouri to the eastern United States.
Watching live entertainment and going down ice slides at the Loop Ice Carnival is a great way to enjoy the outdoors in January when the average high temperature is 40 degrees. You can wander along cobblestone streets in Laclede's Landing during the spring when the average high temperatures range from the high-60s to low-70s. Buildings here date back to the 1800s.
