Hotels in Atlantic City
Atlantic City is located on the southern end of New Jersey's coastline, between marshlands and the Atlantic Ocean. The city's eight largest casinos are located along the Atlantic City Boardwalk, a four mile walkway with restaurants and shops, or the Marina district where cruise ships come to port during most of the year. The theaters housed within the casinos make the city a great destination for live entertainment. The natural beauty of the Atlantic Ocean and the sandy Atlantic City Beach, also entice many visitors here to enjoy some sun.
Most travelers stay in one of the large casinos in the center of town, and several smaller hotel options are located in nearby Absecon, just a few miles to the west. Once you're in town, walking is the best option. Affordable parking is also available at most locations. The city has its own small airport, the Atlantic City International Airport (ACY), but many visitors arrive via rail or bus after travelling to Philadelphia, which is 55 miles away.
Hints and tips
The winters are cold with snow being a common occurrence, and the summers can be quite humid, but the ocean breeze will cool you down. One of Atlantic City's claims to fame is that its home to the annual Miss America pageant.
