Hotels in Mystic

Mystic, Connecticut, is home to the Mystic Aquarium and the leading United States maritime museum, the Museum of America and the Seas, where visitors can explore historic tall ships, a recreated 19th century coastal village and a working preservation shipyard. Visitors should be sure to stroll through Olde Mistick Village to experience one-of-a-kind shops and antiques, restaurants and entertainment. Mystic is a great starting point for a sailing cruise down the Mystic River, a scenic drive along the coast, or exploring the quiet Connecticut farmland.

Key Facts

Mystic is located halfway between New York City and Boston. Inside the city, visitors will find bed-and-breakfasts as well as family-friendly, moderate, and luxury hotels. Many Mystic restaurants specialize in seafood, but there are a variety of cuisines to be found in every budget. Outside of Mystic, the gaming resorts of Mohegan Sun and Foxwood are just a short 15 minutes away, and provide gaming, shopping, dining and spas.

Hints and Tips

Prior to the 17th century, the area was controlled by the Pequots. In 1634, hostilities broke out and the Pequot dominance of the area ended. By the beginning of the 1700s, several villages had become established along the river, the largest developing into what is known today as Olde Mistick Village. The best time to enjoy the history of the area is during the summer and fall, when temperatures hover around 70 degrees.
