Ocean City is home to sandy beaches and the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It features a variety of family-friendly attractions including the Jolly Roger Amusement Parks. One park is located on the pier, and the other park, featuring mini-golf and a water park, is further north. Visitors can also enjoy the shops and restaurants along the Ocean City Boardwalk at the southern tip of the city, in addition to taking advantage of some of the best fishing locations in the United States. Every August, the White Marlin Open pits fishermen against each other.
Several larger hotels and smaller motels dot the shoreline, making it easy for people to access the beach and nearby restaurants. The Ocean City Municipal Airport (OCE) services the region, and connects to several larger cities on the East Coast. Baltimore, Maryland, is one of the closest major cities, at 140 miles away. The Coastal Highway runs up and down the city, and the public Beach Bus transports visitors around town. Open-air shuttles, called the Boardwalk Trams, run along the Boardwalk during the summer.
The city boasts a fairly moderate climate, with highs in the summer rarely reaching 90 degrees. The region has long been a major attraction for residents of the East Coast, and that has translated into numerous dining options, many of which capitalize on the area's abundance of fresh seafood.
