General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is six miles from downtown Milwaukee and accessed from I-94 via Highway 119. The airport is serviced by public transit as well as taxi and shuttle operations and the Amtrak line nearby.
From MKE to Cancun International Airport (CUN), flight times are usually six to seven hours. Passengers arriving in Cancun can find transportation through the RIDE SAFE program, connecting tourists with licensed, reputable car hire. Public transit is also available, as is private car rental. CUN is located right off Hwy 307, with convenient access to the city and many beach resorts.
Cancun is a major spring break destination and it has some of the best beach resorts and entertainment in the Caribbean as a result. Alongside the surf and sand, Playa Linda is where you’ll find the dock for the area’s submarine and diving tours, as well as the shuttle to Isla Mujeres, a much more low-key beach island.
Beyond the beaches, visitors can check out the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, take a Lobster Dinner Cruise, or check out the Jungle Tour for something more exciting.
Tourists usually stay in the many beach resorts and hotels in the “Hotel Zone” while most locals can be found in the city.
