Des Moines (DSM) is a joint civil-military airport located about three miles southwest of the city of Des Moines, Iowa, and it can be reached by McKinley Avenue and Fleur Drive. Typical flight times are five to seven hours to Seattle/Tacoma International (SEA), and upon arrival in Seattle, you will be near the Pacific Highway, as well as highways 509 and 518.
The Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League play their home games here at CenturyLink Field, and the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball play their games at Safeco Field. The Space Needle is a 605-ft tower from which the entire city can be observed, and though it was originally built for the 1962 World's Fair, it has served as the city's symbol ever since. The Woodland Park Zoo is spread out over 92 acres and includes animal species from all around the globe, especially endangered species. The International District is a colorful area of the citywhere you will find numerous Asian shops and restaurants, as well as the Wing Luke Museum, which chronicles the history of immigration.
While Seattle is at least partly cloudy on about 300 days each year, and has the reputation for being a rainy city, it only averages less than 38 inches of rainfall annually. Winter temperatures occasionally dip to the freezing mark, while summer months average less than 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
