When you travel from San Francisco to Seattle, you'll be trading the city by the bay, for the city by Puget Sound. A view of water is never far away in Seattle, and from Lake Union to Elliot Bay, it's almost always within reach.
It's not far by car either. Once you get a rental car from one of the many agencies in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), you're on your way to exploring Seattle's waterfronts. A trip to this city wouldn't be complete without visiting the Pike Place Market, a huge farmers market overlooking Elliot Bay.
SEA is located in the city of Tukwila and has quick access to I-5, the freeway that goes north and south in Washington State. You can take your rental car north to Seattle, but before you get to downtown, linger in the south section to see areas often missed by visitors. Visit Seward Park in the southeast part of Seattle, to see one of the last surviving old growth forests in the city, and enjoy 300 acres of trails and beaches.
The length of a flight between San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Seattle, is just over an hour and a half in the air. Total time from gate to gate is about two hours.
