- Disliked: Property conditions & facilities, room comfort
Setting realistic expectations.
Didn't have my booking when I arrived. Showed me an available room in Rayo Verde that was dirty and tiny. They have another property,Casa Congo, a few meters away that we were able to stay in. Much better. Casa Congo has a servicable restaurant but ran out of most everything on Sunday afternoon. The room was clean but smelled off. Fairly loud first thing in the morning with staff smashing cans and preparing breakfast and dogs barking. The staff is typically Panamanian meaning they aren't going to get up out of their chair to help someone who is obviously in need or wants something when it is not part of their job description. Very little English spoken here. There is no onsite parking. Finding the place was less than straight forward. The address indicates Calle Genea but it doesn't appear to be on that street. Typically Panamanian, and central America, to not really have house numbers. From Fuerte Jironimo you have to go left down the narrow street from Calle Genea. Portobello is beautiful but very undeveloped. There aren't a lot of places to stay and I found this hotel to be expensive considering the quality of the unit and the amenities. The activities they offer are better negotiated on your own. Not trying to deter anyone from coming here as the ocean is gorgeous and it is a peaceful place. Just that the ad for Rayo Verde is a bit misleading and the cost is high considering. Again, there isn't any onsite parking.
