    About this property

    History & Elegance-cabin Sleeps 8-15 W/hot Tub, Fireplaces & Pets Welcome!

History and elegance with that secluded farm country setting that brings families and friends together to create memories that will last a lifetime. The holidays are coming soon and this clean and cozy cabin is the perfect meeting spot for celebrating! This elegant property had its beginnings with the original two-story cabin being erected in 1833 and was renovated and expanded with an addition in 2001. Bringing the old and new together into one beautiful vacation rental cabin. Please look for the video walk through tour of the property under the video tab/ section. We welcome your four- legged family members along for the experience! We have owned and operated this beautiful cabin on HomeAway/ VRBO for the last 14 years. We provide the best in the industry when it comes to cleanliness, furnishings, decor, linens, amenities and supplies. We also offer you unmatched personalized service in every aspect of your stay. Amenities and Description; The cabin consists of approx. 4500 square feet, with 5 bedrooms (9 beds) and 3 bathrooms, an updated kitchen with dining area, large family room with extra large cozy fire place, laundry room, enclosed back porch with relaxing hot tub, back deck with grill, 2 acre back yard with fire pit seating and hammock, front porch with seating, a large circular driveway with enough parking space for 20+ cars and 55 acres complete with 3 fishing ponds. You have full and exclusive access to the entire property during your stay. I break down the floor plan by floors; First Floor consists of: The master bedroom has 1 king size bed with ensuite bathroom complete with dual vanities, a soaking tub with rain shower head, a large marble walk-in shower with dual shower heads and wall jets. There is a sleeping room off the master bedroom with two single beds that makes traveling with family easier on the young ones who want to be close to mom and dad. Kitchen; The beautiful kitchen has custom Amish- built framing and cherry cabinetry with granite counters, farmhouse sink, stainless French door refrigerator with dual ice makers, a ceramic cook top with wall oven, dishwasher and microwave. There is a Keurig and standard coffee maker along with a selection of k-pods and ground coffees, filters, creamer and sugar. I have an impressive selection of spices, cooking oils, salt and pepper. This kitchen is the envy of many as it is complete with not just one of everything but multiples of everything! There is a complete place setting for 25, cookware, bakeware, specialty items like a stand mixer, blenders, 3 crock pots, pancake griddles, waffle makers and more. No kitchen could be complete without thinking of the little family members, they have their own plates, bowls, flatware and drinking glasses to make them feel at home, too. The kitchen also has an eat-in dining area with two tables and chairs that can bring the whole family together for a meal. We believe the kitchen is the heart of the home and this one is impressive! I will send you a detailed listing of everything we provide so when it comes to planning and packing time, you will know what NOT to bring. We have used our long history of hosting to help us know what you need while you're away from home! Family Room; The extra large family room has three comfy couches and other chairs, providing enough seating for the whole group at one time. There is a 55" tv over the mantle of the original warm and inviting fireplace. It is very awe-inspiring to see the beams that are now over 185 years old and still as beautiful as the day they were installed. The thoughts of history can conjure images of the 1st family that lived in the cabin so long ago. Bedroom #2 is located in the original section of the cabin and has a queen size bed. Bathroom #2 is also located in the original section of the cabin making easy access from the family room or bedroom. Laundry facilities with back up supplies storage is located down the hall from bathroom #2. Second Floor; Bedroom #3; is located in a loft and has 1 queen bed Bedroom #4; has 1 king and 1 queen bed Bathroom #3; has a tub/ shower combination and is easily accessed by bedroom #4 Loft #2; has 2 single beds and a couch/ reading area. You can relax in the hot tub on the enclosed back porch year round. The back deck has a 5 burner propane grill (we provide the propane) and steps away you have a very large outdoor fire pit (we provide the fire wood). There are 3 stocked ponds on this property where you don't need a fishing license. There are mowed hiking paths so you can take a walk any time to see natural beauty in every direction. This is the place to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery, the ultimate place to unwind your mind and unplug. While most technology is available, you will want to lay that phone down, close that computer and breathe that clean farm air and reinvigorate your spirit with the beautiful surroundings. How would I describe the place? It’s a historic cabin with an Amish built addition. You get a feel of the history with the original cabin and the artistry from the timber frame work, all the custom doors and cabinetry in the addition. It is beautiful. This was a family home, we purchased it and made it a vacation rental. It’s completely updated, offers high end finishes, linens and an awesome kitchen anyone would envy. TV and Internet; It has Dish Network satellite TV and Excede satellite wireless Internet. For those who don’t know, satellite internet is not DSL or like high speed internet. You cannot stream movies or videos but you can do basic internet searches and check email. To augment the internet, I do make available a Verizon Jet Pack that will give you 4G LTE and a cell phone booster. We do our absolute best to bring you the technology we can receive but remember we are in the country. So, there are some limitations we have no control over. Verizon has the best of all carriers, enough where you can stream movies with Verizon reception. However, AT&T is the worst with minimal reception, this will have you running around the property looking for the most bars. Your safety and security is our number one priority!! Most guests don’t consider this aspect when they are looking at properties. We have extra carbon monoxide detectors in every room on every level, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors in every space. We want you to feel that extra sense of safety when you stay with us. Don’t settle for anything less than the best! Nearby property is available for deer hunting during hunting season and the cabin is near Woodbury Nature Preserve (public hunting) which is only 20 minutes away. Many of our guests have hunted Woodbury and never gone home empty handed. We also have about 200 acres available on a nearby farm that is rentable by the day. The Surrounding Area: Set in the heart of Ohio farm country, the cabin sits on it's own 55 acre farm. The area is rural, and scenery consists of rolling hills, woods, farms and farm land. We are about as far away from the hectic life as you can get in Ohio. There are miles of gravel roads in the area with low traffic, suitable for biking and walking. You are probably wondering what is there to do in this area? We attract a large number of golfing groups because we are perfectly located between three popular public golf courses; Black Diamond Golf Course The Virtues Golf Club (Formerly Longaberger) Apple Valley Golf Course There are many activities for adults and children; zip lines, petting zoos, hiking, a 25 ft waterfall, kayaking, ice cream making and a winery. We provide a guest services manual with all the local attractions. The owners, Frank and Lisa Stahl, have another farm within 1.5 miles of the cabin. During the Spring (March -May) we have baby lambs and make maple syrup from the trees on the cabin grounds. We encourage you to enjoy the sights on both farms. Our amount of interaction with you is controlled by you. You can have the peace and quiet undisturbed while at the cabin or spend some time on the farm with us - it's up to you. We primarily keep the livestock at our farm, and are doing hay at the cabin and rotate the livestock there to graze. We are an authentic farming operation raising registered, grass fed shorthorn cattle and Katahdin Sheep. We also have horses, chickens, dogs, and cats. Typically we have around 25 cows and calves, and between 40 and 100 sheep.

Absolutely beautiful! CLEAN! Serene, VERY Spacious, Enough seating in each room to fit us comfortabl

March 2019 We just had our family girls retreat there and couldn't have picked a better place! The owner, Lisa Stahl, started her hospitality before we even got there and her kindness went above and beyond anything I've ever experienced before. I was using GPS on the way there and it took me to a road called Mills Road (which I later found out had been closed for 30 years) after turning around I got stuck on this road in the snow, ice, and mud, I called Lisa to explain what was going on and she said her husband would be right there to help me with his tractor. After I hung up I was able to keep working at it and arrived at the cabin safely. I was thankful for their generosity! From the moment when I walked into the cabin and all my senses were activated, from the beauty, the wonderful aroma, and the sound of the fireplace my stress went away. I had watched the video walkthrough that is on the internet prior to my visit and I just couldn't believe how much bigger and better everything looked than on the video. Loved the 2 huge tables in the kitchen, enough seating for 10 people, and the gigantic island! The kitchen was supplied with all we needed and more , the owner had left delicious goodies for us in the fridge! The living room had the same amount of spacious, comfortable seating for all of us, and the awesome real fireplace which we had burning the whole time, and the owner had it going for us when we arrived! The bedding on each of the beds and the towels in all the bathrooms were top notch (5 star) quality and very comfortable! The hot tub was so enjoyable and I loved that it was in a covered space, since it rained during our stay we would not have been able to enjoy it like we did had it not been covered! My family members live in several different locations in the state of Ohio and this cabin was centrally located. On the morning of our departure Lisa had texted me to tell me that there was a road closed just that morning and wanted to make sure we took a different route, very thoughtful! Lisa also graciously came over to take a picture of all of us at the Weston House! Lisa definitely made us feel like we were family during our entire stay! We will definitely be returning and I would recommend this cabin to anyone!

Beautiful, cozy cabin. Owner has thought of everything!

Our family chose this property for our family Christmas. There were twelve of us and we had plenty of room. The cabin was clean and the linens and towels were beautiful. The kitchen is large and had everything needed to cook a large Christmas feast. We could all sit together for eating all our meals. The family room with its large fireplace was a perfect background for present opening. We had more than enough beds for all of us. Lisa was a delightful host and even offered to run to town to pick up a few items we forgot. We hope to return to this property again soon.
