Overall Experience Good for Price

Based on other reviews I was worried about the cleanliness. While there were some minor stains on the sheets, they definitely were clean and new. Building is on an older part of downtown, with bus stops right next to it and near the parking. Parking is $30/night across the road next to Hotel Indigo which isn't bad if you aren't there for too many days. Very good distance from all the arenas and lots of great restaurants within walking distance as well. Didn't have any issues with noise from the road or from other guests. It's normal city noises from the road and nothing outlandish. Bed was quite comfortable. Shower curtain didn't run to the floor and had issues with water getting on the floor. Would've benefited from extra counter space in the bathroom. Kitchen was nice. Liked the code for entrance, better than carrying a key around. Building itself is definitely old and in need of upkeep and maintenance. Elevators made awful noises and were clean, but not well-maintained. Outside keypad needs replacing, wasn't as touch sensitive. Front desk staff was friendly, though.

Good location for food and events

Super convenient location to every place we wanted to be near in downtown. Some very good food choices within 10 minute walk. Only downside was could be noisy in the early evening and morning with construction close by:

We've stayed at this location several times but this last stay was not up to par as it had been in the past. The top of the refrigerator hasn't been cleaned in months and you can tell. All 4 chairs were damaged with rips and holes. The shower fixture were beyond dirty. The nightstand hadn't been cleaned. The washing machine sounds like gun fire and had black tape holding it together. If I decide to try this place again I hope they do better. Also the entrance of the location needs cleaning especially the front door rug.

Nice location downtown! The condition of the unit wasn’t terrible but little things like some broken elements and some things not cleaned did throw me off a bit! Some tech issues with the code also delayed me a bit during my stay but overall a solid stay & Front desk people were lovely.

I had a wonderful stay at the Sonder in Detroit. The space was clean, comfortable, and well-designed, making it easy to relax and feel at home. Everything I needed was within walking distance and the overall experience was smooth and convenient. I look forward to staying at another Sonder in a different city in the future!

Great spot in downtown Detroit

This place was in a great location in downtown Detroit; VERY convenient to the airport bus (it picks up right across the street). The building was very quiet but the streets below got noisy with motorcycles later at night. My white noise app took care of that, though. I felt safe here as a solo female traveler, and it was easy to walk around and access public transit from here too.

I was very misled about this place. The pictures I was shown were not even for this Sonder. It was very dingy and dirty. I felt bad for the receptionist because all they had were complaints and angry guests. The room I rented was not what I got. I paid for a King room and received a Queen sized mattress room. I let the receptionist know but was unable to switch to another room because of occupancy. The elevators were filthy and in desperate need of repairs. The headboard to the bed had a greasy mark from someone’s head. I do not recommend this property to anyone.

Inside is amazing super clean and friendly staff. However, you have to pay for overnight parking which is not mentioned till after you pay. The room is basically a whole apartment, even the kitchen was stocked for someone who would stay long term, which was super cool and the views from the windows are so cool too! I give this place a great rating the only thing I think they need to work on is the rickety elevator, it feel like the cords could snap at any moment and it shakes you like as if you or on the tower of terror.
