    About this property

Secluded Cottage on the Bagaduce River, Pristine Tidal Estuary of Penobscot Bay

Bayside cottage with kitchen and balcony
The Cottage at Clay Forms Pottery is tucked away a mile off the main road on the shores of the Bagaduce River, a pristine tidal estuary fed by the fresh waters of Walker Pond in Brooksville and the salt waters at the mouth of the Penobscot Bay at Castine. The Cottage is a hand crafted, year round insulated and heated one loft bedroom, one bath guest house with a full kitchen. It is an artfully decorated hideaway built on eight acres of spruce and pine woods on the property of Clay Forms Pottery where its proprietors Richard and Melody reside in the main house. A screened-in porch for outdoor dining and relaxation has just been completed. Located on the Blue Hill Peninsula, the Bagaduce River is a precious gem. It is the home to bald eagles, osprey, kingfishers, blue herons, horseshoe crabs, striped bass, alewives, otters, minks, and an occasional seal. It's a gorgeous spot for easy kayaking (bring water shoes) or just laying on a hammock by the shore with a good book. There are many lovely walks and bike rides nearby as well as throughout the Blue Hill Peninsula. We particularly love to walk a boreal fog forest at The Nature Conservancy’s Barred Island Trail on Deer Isle or climb Blue Hill Mountain to view the vistas of Blue Hill Bay and the mountains of Acadia National Park. We also love visiting the beautiful fishing village of Stonington to have a lobster at one of the many restaurants or to take a few home to steam while experiencing a Bagaduce sunset like never before.
Guest accommodations at this cottage offer DVD players and coffee/tea makers. Rooms open to balconies or patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas. Bathrooms include showers and hair dryers.
    This cottage features a garden.
This cottage is a smoke-free property.
Recreational amenities at the cottage include an outdoor tennis court.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

Beautiful private setting in the woods on a river

Staying at this well equipped cottage was perfect for us while hiking Downeast trails. We would return each day to enjoy peaceful sunsets as we sipped our wine on the banks of the river feeling that we were alone with nature.both of the owners made us so welcome and made suggestions to include on our lists of places not to miss. They were spot On ! We will miss the cozy cottage and owners. Thanks for sharing your home and Maine with us.

          Lovely peaceful cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay here at this lovely peaceful cottage. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. The kitchen was stocked with necessary supplies for meal preparation. The hosts welcomed us with a bottle of wine, and we also found a sample of Melody's delicious peach and ginger preserve in the refrigerator! The location of the cottage was perfect for us and where we planned our daily outings to all the lovely nearby towns of Stonington, Castine and Blue Hill. We especially enjoyed our time spent at Schoodic Peninsula and hope to visit again. We certainly recommend staying at this lovely not to be forgotten cottage!
