Trains, AC and Traffic Oh My - Noisy Brookline Unit
In town for a week for a medical situation with my 25 year old daughter and needed a place to camp while she recovered from surgery. While the location is close to the nearby Longwood medical complex/neighborhood, this unit needs some work. As my headline reflects this unit is noisy. The T runs constantly right behind the unit, the AC in the family room sounds like a jack hammer and the traffic from Kent during the day is load with trucks and traffic. The kitchen is old but very functional and well appointed with everything you need to cook simple meals. A little bowl with complimentary snacks is a nice touch. The bath is circa 1950 with pink tile, shower sink etc. Full size, partially used bath amenities have been provided. Kinda gross IMHO. Probably better to either provide hotel size amenities or none. Most travelers bring their own. Master bedroom w queen bed is comfortable with newer IKEA linens. Night stands are small and lamps smaller. Reading in bed not conducive with poor bedside lighting. No TV in master BR. Second bedroom has 2 twin beds - one of which needs to be replaced as it sags and squeaks like a haunted house. Family room is spacious with a sectional sofa that has no remaining life. Cushions are worn and offer no bottom support when sitting on them. Nice flat screen TV however no cable or satellite. There is a coax cable leading to a window secured antenna. Antenna really? If you travel with a computer and have Netflix or equal, you can attach an HDMI cable and get by. Otherwise TV reception is spotty at best with a lot of blackout/scrambled instances. Unit is on 3rd floor with narrow, creeky stairwell. Starbucks and Dunken are just a short 10 min walk into Brookline where other restaurants are located. A short UBER drive away is downtown Brookline where an abundance of food and shopping options exist. While we were not in town for vacation, we made the best of our stay and I'm happy to say my daughter is recovering nicely. I would recommend the owners of this unit upgrade and update if they want to get the nightly rates they desire. As is, this unit is about $100 a night in my opinion.
