To get to Burbank Bob Hope Airport (BUR), take the airport Amtrak to the Burbank-Bob Hope Airport Metrolink Station, or the Golden State Freeway (I-5) which has three exits near the airport.
Nonstop flights to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) take two-and-a-half hours, and other flights can run near five hours. After landing, Interstate 5 leads directly north to downtown and further north to the scenic harbors and lovely wilderness of Washington's many islands.
On a clear day, you might spot the nearby Mt. Rainer or the city's iconic Space Needle tower as you approach your landing. You could easily spend a whole day browsing Pike Place Market's many shops and stalls before enjoying an unforgettable maritime meal at one of the area's many oyster bars.
Seattle's notoriously rainy weather is significantly less so during the hottest summer months of July through September, and it won't get dark until 9 or 10 p.m. Downtown accommodations are popular and pricey. For cheaper lodging, try Whidbey Island to the north, where adventurous visitors can enjoy tours through Deception Pass Park and explore its many harbors.
