Situated only seven miles from Richmond, Richmond International (Byrd Field)(RIC) is one of the busiest airports in the central Virginia area. Its convenient location makes the airport easily accessible from I-64 via Exit 197A, or I-295 via Exit 31. The airport is a gateway to numerous destinations, including Orlando International (MCO). You can expect the flight duration to typically last just under two hours. To reach Orlando from the destination airport, you can make use of local buses found in Terminal A on the Ground Transportation Level, or taxis found at both Terminal A and Terminal B on Level 1.
When visiting Orlando with your family, make sure to check out Walt Disney World where highlights include Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. SeaWorld is another popular destination in the area, as well as Discovery Cove, which is located right next to it. For slides, rides and other water-related fun, check out Typhoon Lagoon or Wet 'n Wild. The Orlando Science Center offers some more educational fun, while Gatorland is a great place to check out reptiles. Located one hour from the theme-park area of Orlando, you will also find Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex.
During the warmer months, lightweight clothing is recommend for a trip to Orlando, while in the cooler season a lightweight jacket or two is sufficient. Since afternoon rainstorms are regular occurrences, be sure to pack an umbrella and poncho.
