While Salt Lake City is quite traditional and laidback, in just over one hour you could be somewhere completely different - Las Vegas.
It’s so quick to fly from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to McCarran International Airport (LAS). Take the light rail service from the city center to the airport - it stops outside Terminals 1 and 2.
There are two great areas to stay in Las Vegas – ‘The Strip’, which is the main Las Vegas Boulevard with the Eiffel Tower replica, M&M’s World, and the state-of-the-art casino resorts, and there’s Downtown, which has a much more classic Vegas feel.
Meanwhile, Fremont Street is home to many of the more traditional (and extravagant) casinos, and is worth visiting. The street is covered with LED screens (part of the ‘Fremont Street Experience) that display vibrant light shows at dusk, and you can even zipline down the street, whizzing past the bars, restaurants, and resorts. Fremont Street is a nod to the city’s neon era of the past.
There’s a bus service that takes you directly from the Strip to Fremont Street. Called the Deuce bus, it stops outside many of the Las Vegas resorts and provides easy access to Downtown.
