Traveling from Denver to Cancun can be a way to escape the mountains, and head straight for the beaches where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Caribbean Sea. First, of course, you'll have to rely on your own vehicle or the SkyRide buses to get to the Denver International Airport (DEN).
You can expect the flight to last around four hours in total.
The center of Cancun is the part of the coastline known as the Zona Hotelera, and that's where you'll find waterfront hotels, restaurants like La Destileria and shops catering to visitors. Popular pastimes near the water include surfing, snorkeling, boating and swimming, but there's also plenty to do onshore. Historically minded visitors to the area can learn more about the heritage and culture of the Yucatan Peninsula, with a visit to the Museo Maya de Cancun and the MUSA Museo Subacuatico de Arte. You can work on your haggling skills at the local markets selling fresh produce, clothing and souvenirs.
It is about ten miles from the Zona Hotelera to the Cancun International Airport (CUN), and the most popular means of transport between the two destinations is taxi. If you're taking a taxi from the airport, book your ride inside the terminal and take your ticket to the provider outside.
