Tapping into the Soul of Folk Rock
Ray LaMontagne's origin story has a mythical quality, a sudden inspiration coming one morning when he woke up to Stephen Stills crooning "Treetop Flyer" on the radio. In 1999 Ray LaMontagne dove into performing and recording, drumming up support on the local Maine scene. His debut album, Trouble, was a folk rock sensation, and soon Ray LaMontagne was performing at world-class events like Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo. His dreamy and soulful tunes became the perfect backdrop for TV shows like ER, Parenthood, and One Tree Hill. Singles like "You Are the Best Thing," "Let It Be Me," and "Hold You in My Arms" rend listeners' hearts with LaMontagne's simple but earnest emotions. His self-produced God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise snagged a Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. The 2014 Supernova shone with retro vibes, while his 2016 Ouroboros brought a psychedelic perspective. In 2018 LaMontagne released his most recent album to date, Part of the Light.
Just Passing Through Tour
Years in the making, the Just Passing Through Tour strips down all the glitz and glamor that traditionally comes with live concert performances, focusing strictly on LaMontagne’s vocal capabilities. The tour has brought fans of the singer-songwriter together in an intimate setting where they can enjoy his soothing voice. The tour saw several stops across the United States including in his hometown of Providence at the Providence Performing Arts Center. Other stops along the tour were at the Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia, the Fox Theatre in Detroit, and the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
