I find the service in Cancun to be pretty good at most resorts, but I was quite impressed by the service at Riu Cancun. I found the staff to be helpful and accomodating, especially the bar and wait staff; one never had to for a refill while at a table, as it was promptly refilled the moment the glass was half-full. I would definitely return. The one stand-out thing was the lack of 'tiered' alcohol service. Most resorts have top-shelf product reserved for their 'select' or 'premium' members, but at this RIU, top-shelf product like Patron was readily available and served to all guests. As I've mentioned, I would definitely return.

Hotel needs renovation. Elevators super slow and one wasn’t working the whole week we were there. Constantly waiting for elevator. Food was awful and alcohol was crappy nothing name brand. All food was so bland. Their specialty restaurants were the dining halls and the food comes out for lunch the next day. Steak was thin, tough and literally the same food we got earlier in dining hall. No ambiance in the restaurant. Rare to see someone actually taking orders at the pool for drinks. Pool bar was closed due to cleaning. Beach and pool parties were fun evening entertainment not a lot of options. Kahoot should not be a nighttime entertainment option. Housekeeping was great. Evening food options awful cold hard bread and buns. Cheese for nachos was watered down and cold. I ate hot dogs all week as the buns and hot dogs were good every thing else stunk. I would not stay at another RIU again. Fruit tasted like not ripe and pineapple cores not cut out so had to eat around them. Beautiful beach area. Even breakfast and deserts were bland. Don’t waste your money on Catamaran ride with lunch at beach. Food was awful there too. Again drink selection was limited. Maybe if you are 18-20 you might not care about type of alcohol or food taste. Massage was ok but nothing to write home about. ElTimon restaurant two doors down was excellent! Food on Island restaurant where your boat docks is excellent too.
