Flying into San Francisco International Airport (SFO) from Tampa may be a long trip, but San Francisco is a unique city worth the journey. Once you freshen up and procure your rental car, you can head into the city. SFO is ten miles south of the city near the Bay and you will need to take the 101 into the city.
There is plenty to do and see in and around San Francisco whether you’re travelling for a business conference or vacation. Parking may be hard to find during peak hours and traffic can be heavy, but a car is useful to drive over the huge bridges, such as Golden Gate or the San Mateo–Hayward Bridge, the longest bridge in the Bay Area. You can also visit the city's secluded, yet beautiful beaches such as Ocean Beach and Baker Beach.
Within the city, make sure to visit Chinatown, the largest Chinese community outside of Asia. Head down to the famous piers to visit Fisherman's Wharf and take a look at the Aquarium of the Bay, or head out on a ferry to see Alcatraz.
Flight time in the air from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) to San Francisco is just under six hours. However, since flights often have stops, actual time between the airports may be greater.
