If you are flying from Fort Lauderdale to New York City, you can expect a direct flight that lasts about three hours. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport (FLL) is located 3 miles from the downtown part of Fort Lauderdale, and a little more than 20 miles from Miami. This busy airport handles both domestic and international flights.
Flying into LaGuardia Airport (LGA) places you in the Flushing section of Queens. Most travelers to New York City are heading for Manhattan, which can be reached by public transportation, taxi or by renting a car. A car rental is convenient because Queens is a very spread out borough. Driving also allows you to see nearby attractions such as Flushing Meadow Park, home of two World’s Fairs, and the U.S. Open tennis tournament.
You can find car rentals at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) from several major companies. One thing you should know about driving from the airport to Manhattan, or other boroughs, is that there are several tolls. You can either pay using cash or by using your own E-ZPass transponder. Once you arrive in Manhattan, you will have easy access to many attractions, such as Times Square, the Theater District, the Empire State Building, and famous neighborhoods such as Chinatown and Little Italy.
