Washington Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) International tends to be busy, so take the Washington Metro in directly from the capital.
Typical flight times from DCA to Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) are a little over four hours long. At SLC, take the I-80 with a rental car, taxi or shuttle to get into the city, or take the TRAX light rail right into Salt Lake City. Buses stop on the curb right outside the airport Welcome Center.
Temple Square offers several attractions all in one place. The central focus of the area is the six-spired temple. Sometimes there are concerts and recitals available to the public. This area is considered central to the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, and it is possible to take tours or walk through at your leisure.
Family history is also an important part of the area, and the Family History Library is a great place to find out more about your own genealogy and family tree.
Expect to see drastic changes in the weather during winter and summer. Winters are cold and it is usual to see snow up in the mountains. Summers are dry and warm. In between, spring tends to be considered the rainy season, with a considerable amount of precipitation.
