Traveling from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Tampa International Airport (TPA) for vacation or business, can be a shock to the senses. Tampa is tropical, humid and mostly sunny all year. Ben Davis Beach hugs the Courtney Campbell Causeway, as it stretches across Tampa Bay to link to Clearwater and more beaches.
Ybor City with its brick paved streets lined with brick buildings, was once the heart of cigar manufacturing. Tampa's role in Florida's development is evident in the Henry B. Plant Museum that is housed in what was once the opulent Tampa Bay Hotel. The Moorish structure is now part of the University of Tampa campus. To see what natural Florida looks like, take a canoe at John B. Sargent State Park, and paddle down the Hillsborough River.
Interstate 4 is the main route connecting Tampa to cities to the east, including Orlando. It feeds into I-275 and connects Tampa to St. Petersburg and Clearwater, and further south to Sarasota. Northbound I-275 eventually merges with I-75, is one of the primary north-south routes in the state, linking Tampa to Gainesville on the north, or Naples to the south.
The average duration of directs flights between PHL and TPA is about two hours and 15 minutes. TPA's Visitor Information Centers are staffed by Volunteer Ambassadors who can assist guests with ground transportation and questions on lodging, entertainment options and flight information.
