The biggest difference you'll notice flying into Denver International Airport (DEN) from Minneapolis-Saint Paul is the altitude. Denver sits 5,280 feet above sea level, which is why it's known as the Mile-High City. Denver International is about 18 miles northeast of downtown Denver.
Denver is a big driving city and once you procure your rental car, you can head into town. Parking is plentiful and sometimes free, but watch the signs as parking rules are enforced. Denver is full of museums and you can drive over to the Denver Art Museum and view an enormous amount of art from all over the world. In the southern part of town is the Colorado State Capitol where tours are available.
Denver is a popular destination for sports fans, and you can choose to catch an MLB game at Coors Field or an NFL game at Mile High Stadium, home of the Denver Broncos. The NBA's Denver Nuggets play at Pepsi Center. Microbrewery tours are also available, as well as tours of the large Coors Brewery facility.
The in-air flight time from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) to Denver is a little over an hour and a half. Gate to gate time is slightly over two hours for a nonstop flight.
