Cheap flights from Houston (HOU) to San Francisco (SJC)

Houston George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) is located 23 miles north of downtown Houston, and is easily accessible via Interstate Route 45 and Highway 59. Flights from Houston to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) take 4 to 5 hours, and once in San Francisco, the Bay Area Rapid Transit offers connections to many nearby destinations.

Attractions and tips

Everyone visiting San Francisco stops to see the famous Golden Gate Bridge, which spans 1.7 miles, and Fisherman’s Wharf is well known for its vendors of crab, clam chowder and sourdough bread bowls.

You’ll also be able to see Alcatraz Island, once the home of a federal prison which was in operation from 1933 – 1963. Visitors can also visit the island itself, which is managed by the National Park Service and is home to rare plants and birdlife. The island also boasts the ruins of the prison and visitors can learn about the history of the island, including the Native American occupation of Alcatraz, which ran from 1964-1971.

San Francisco is home to the National Football League’s San Francisco 49’ers, who play at Candlestick Park, and Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants, who play at SBC Park. Numerous water sports and boating and sailing are available to visitors who wish to take advantage of the city’s seaside location.
