Riding the New Wave of Metal
Killswitch Engage was the brainchild of veteran metalcore musicians, formed in 1999 after the collapse of the bands Overcast and Aftershock. They released their debut album in 1999, which landed them a contract with Roadrunner Records. It was their 2004 album, The End of Heartache, which launched them to fame. Killswitch Engage has weathered many lineup changes, including the replacement of lead singer Jesse Leach with Howard Jones after their second album. However Leach returned in 2012 when Jones had to quit the band for health reasons. In 2014 the band won the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best Live Band, and Killswitch Engage's full-throttle performances make them a favorite at events likeOzzfest, Download Festival, Mayhem Festival, and Rock on the Range. They have been hailed as an instrumental band in the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, with both "In Due Time" and "The End of Heartache" getting Grammy Award nominations.
Overcoming Roadblocks
Although through the years there has been some shifting in members of the band, that hasn’t halted their success at all. After recently signing an international contract with Columbia/Sony, as well as Metal Blade Records and Music for Nations, Killswitch Engage released their newest album, Atonement, on August 16, 2019. This is their eighth studio album and reflects all the ups and downs they have gone through together as a band. Even with one of their members Jesse Leach, having to undergo surgery to his vocal chords, it contributed to more ammunition behind their band’s journey and inspired their music.
With a new album out in 2019, Killswitch Engage is drawing fans from all over the country to their concerts. Act today to get your cheap Killswitch Engage tickets to experience these metalcore demigods live!
