The red rock formations in and around the city are the main feature for Sedona, Arizona. Look at or climb the famed Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock or Coffee Pot Rock. Explore Oak Creek Canyon or spend the day in the cool waters of Slide Rock State Park, which provides a natural water slide and tubing opportunities. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is nestled among the red rocks, and you can learn about Sedona's past at the Sedona Heritage Museum. Sedona is just 30 miles from Flagstaff and 66 miles from Prescott.
There are numerous hotels and motels as well as a variety of restaurants up and down Highway 89A. Some are located in downtown, with others very close to that area. Downtown is also where a large number of specialty shops are located. Free bus service is provided by Sedona Roadrunner, and the city is home to a small regional airport, Sedona Airport (SDX), also located on 89A.

Sedona does receive a few inches of snow a year and regular thunderstorms in the summer. Be sure to bring warm clothes and comfortable hiking boots for outdoor excursions. Sedona plays host to several annual events, such as the Sedona Film Festival in February and the Holiday Central Sedona in December.
