Hotels in Kapolei
Oahu's "Second City" takes the name Kapolei from a volcanic cone, Puʻu o Kapolei. According to legend, Kapo was one of the sisters of the Goddess Pele. Kapolei offers a variety of attractions including the Aloun Farms, where families can pick their own vegetables, and the Ko Olina Beach Park, replete with four lagoons. For golf enthusiasts, there are nearly ten public courses in Kapolei alone.
The airport that serves Kapolei is Honolulu International Airport (HNL). You'll find many options for transportation, including Da Bus, which has twice been recognized by the American Public Transportation Association as America’s Best Transit System. Transportation also includes many rental car companies and an assortment of shuttle services. Many waterfront lodgings can be found on the west of the island, close to Farrington Highway.
Hints and Tips
Since Hawaii is known as "The Land of the Endless Summer," you can expect enjoyable temperatures ranging from the 70s to the high 80s. Shopping options are boundless, with the Kapolei Marketplace providing everything from beauty and health spas and boutiques, to entertainment and specialty stores selling the latest in Hawaiian-style fashions. Dining in Kapolei offers you the chance to sample the flavor of the South Pacific. Sushi, poke and Korean barbecue; a unique spin on the Southern culinary tradition, can whet your appetite. Aloun Farms holds an annual Pumpkin Festival in October.
