          Hotels in College Station

Located in Brazos County, part of East Central Texas, is the much beloved city of College Station--home of the Texas A&M University. College Station owes a great deal to Texas A&M, such as being awarded the most educated city in Texas by Money Magazine. However, College Station is more than just a college and sports town. It also features a variety of other attractions, such as the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum.

          Key facts

Transportation into College Station is convenient via the city’s airport, College Station Easterwood Airport (CLL). Within the college town, there are shuttles that transport visitors and residents alike from one location to another. College Station features three main districts: the Northgate area, where the University is located along with an abundance of stores, bars and restaurants; the Wolf Pen Creek District, which features a $1.5 million amphitheater; and the Wellborn District. The neighborhoods surrounding College Station are rural and perfectly combine the serenity of the Texas countryside with a culture befitting a modern college town.

          Hints and tips

The origin of College Station dates from 1860. The town was founded when the Houston and Texas Central Railway was built through the region. 11 years later, the locale was deemed ideal for the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, which was renamed Texas A&M in 1963.
