Chula Vista, California, is a small city south of San Diego approximately eight miles north of the Mexican border. It is a culturally diverse and rapidly growing economic area, situated on the Pacific Coast, with a mountain vista to the east. Chula Vista is known for its large marina and United States Olympic Training Center, as well as for its proximity to both the city of San Diego and the Baja peninsula in Mexico.
Chula Vista has a small downtown area with shops, banking and other amenities as well as numerous big box stores located near Interstate 5; the main artery through town. There is a trolley system that makes frequent stops parallel to I-5, and a bus system for travelers heading east away from the highway.
The nearest large airport is San Diego International Airport (SAN), about 15 minutes to the north. For private and charter flights, Brown Field (SDM) to the east and Montgomery Field (MYF) to the north are options.
Weather in Chula Vista is nice year-round with comfortable average temperatures around 70 degrees. Late summer and early fall tend to have the nicest weather conditions. There is a large Hispanic population in Chula Vista, and the area abounds with Mexican restaurants and Spanish-speaking businesses.
