For an older property, the staff did an admirable job at keeping our room clean. The beds were comfortable and the sheets crisp and clean. The carpet was well-vacuumed and the towels were clean and in good shape. We had requested a room with a kitchenette as due to our circumstances, we would be in our room much of the time. While a leak in the kitchenette’s sink was discovered on the first day, the front desk clerk arranged for maintenance to visit right away late on a Saturday aftermoon. He was able to fix the leak quickly and he was followed up immediately by the housekeeper who cleaned the floor. We were impressed with the service. The TV and channel selections were wonderful.
However, in the kitchenette only one of the 2 burners was functional, cookware was limited, no knife was provided for food prep, plates/bowls were styrofoam (not microwaveable), and only plastic utensils. The microwave controls were in French (?). On the plus side, the coffee packets were good and the refrigerator was clean. A kitchenette “upgrade” to ceramic tableware, metal cutlery, and 2 functional burners would be a plus.
The location was good for our visit to UCSD-Hillcrest and we got our exercise walking up the hill to it several times! Uber worked well for our outings since we did not rent a car and Days Inn was an easy distance from San Diego’s airport, however, no hotel shuttle is provided.
