Bismarck is a city that borders the Missouri River in Burleigh County, North Dakota. Camping is a huge deal in Bismarck; there are several campgrounds and log cabins for guests to stay in while they are visiting. The Dakota Zoo and the Gateway to Science at the Children's Museum are very popular with families. History enthusiasts often stop at the Chief Looking's Village site, located on the East Bismarck Expressway. Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park is another busy area attraction, especially in the summer months.
South Washington Street is close to the Missouri River and boasts many amenities for area visitors. Bismarck Airport (BIS) is the closest airport to Bismark. Interstate 94 is the most traveled highway in the area, and you can head east on the road to reach Long Lake National Wildlife Refuge in nearby Driscoll, about 45 minutes away.
The Shriner Circus comes to town every April. Mother's Day at the Dakota Zoo is held in May. The downtown area has a very vibrant nightlife that attracts college students and busy professionals alike. Bismarck high temperatures range between the 30s and 50s in the spring and fall. Summers in Bismark are warm, sunny and typically dry, and temperatures can reach the mid-80s during July and August.
