Philadelphia International (PHL) is located a short ride down I-95 from Philadelphia's downtown, as well as being connected to a wide regional rail network. There are also buses available. Typical flight times are just under two hours to Savannah/Hilton Head (SAV). It is around 10 miles to Savannah's downtown, and taxis are available just outside the arrivals terminal, as are buses and shuttles.
One of the oldest cities in the US, Savannah's Historic District with its many gorgeous stately homes is a true joy to walk around any time of year. Enjoy one of the many professional walking tours through this area or just wander around on your own; you'll have a lovely time strolling under the trees lining the old avenues. For some monumental architecture, visit the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Georgia's oldest Catholic Church and a gorgeous piece of architecture. The Pin Point Heritage Museum will take you through the region's history with some tasteful exhibitions, leaving you wiser when you leave.
Savannah is a very hot and humid city, so visitors are advised to dress very lightly. Savannah has a variety of neighborhoods in which to stay popular with its visitors. The Historic District downtown is hands-down the most desired place to stay. You can also book your accommodations by the Savannah River or, for more affordable options, in the outskirts of town.
