The Formation

Mr. Bungle was formed in Eureka, CA in 1985 with the members still being in high school. The original members consisted of Trevor Dunn, Mike Patton, Trey Spruance, Theo Lengyel and Jed Watts. The band’s name was inspired from the show Beginning Responsibility: Lunchroom Manners. Many of the members came from a strong background of heavy metal music, so it took time for the band to develop their own sound and style. They taught each other different styles such as ska and funk to help solidify their unique sound.

Making Music

In 1990, the band left Eureka for San Francisco in hopes of more opportunities for their music. It wasn’t long after the move they were then signed to Warner Bros. Their debut album Mr. Bungle was released in 1991 and received mostly positive reviews. Their second album, Disco Volante was released in 1995. The band continued with shifts in their genres on various tracks, which contributed to them standing out. The album received mixed reviews but nonetheless still put them on the map for a band to watch out for. Since then the band has released various other albums and have gone on multiple tours. On September 9th, 2003 the band played their final concert in Nottingham, England. Members decided to disband to pursue other various side projects.

Reunion

Mr. Bungle decided to reunite for seven shows in 2020. The first show kicked off on February 7th at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. Other venues the band is performing at include the Warfield in San Francisco and Brooklyn Steel in New York. Fans were ecstatic to hear this legendary band having a reunion.
