About Los Angeles Dodgers

The team that would become the LA Dodgers was founded in the late 19th century as the Brooklyn Dodgers, so called because of the confusing network of trolley cars that ran through the team's home borough. While in Brooklyn, the Dodgers made history by signing the first African-American player, Jackie Robinson. With Robinson, the team won their first World Series title in 1955. It was shortly thereafter that the team moved to its current home of Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were established in 1883 in a borough of New York City known as Brooklyn. Their team originated under the name Brooklyn Atlantics, which they received from the Atlantic Base Ball Club of Brooklyn also known as the Brooklyn Atlantics. The Brooklyn Atlantics were baseball's champion for many years. They played in what as referred to as "Era before league". Where there was the National Association of Base Ball Players which later became the American Association in 1884. It wasn't until 1890 that the Dodgers joined the National League which they are still apart of today.

The Dodgers have been the recipient of many awards throughout the franchise's years. They have won 6 World Series titles, 13 MVP Awards, 18 Rookie of the Year Awards, 22 National League pennants, 11 NL MVP awards, and 8 Cy Young Awards.

Home Stadium

The team plays in Dodger Stadium, which is located north of downtown Los Angeles. Opened in 1962, the stadium is the third-oldest in the country, after Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. The stadium has a capacity of about 56,000, which is small compared to some of the more modern ballparks. With Corey Seager out for the season, and many players lost in free agency their team had no shortage of difficulties.

"I don't think anybody here would use our injuries as an excuse because, to your point, we have the resources in this market, as an organization, to build depth and to have contingencies in place," Dodgers general manager Farhan Zaidi told Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times. "We have a track record of doing it. I think it would be disingenuous for us to suddenly say it's different."
