Known for his defense, but not power hitting, he lifted a deep liner, clearing the right field wall. This was the first home run he had hit left-handed in eight years. The Cardinals won the Championship Series 4-2. One of the longest games between the Dodgers and the Cardinals was played as recently as July 22, 2016. Till the fifteenth inning both teams were tied at 3-3. In the bottom of the sixteenth inning, the Cardinals scored and won the game 4-3. It took 5 hours and 10 minutes to finish the game. It was played at Busch Stadium III, before more than 41,000 fans.
