Early Life and Career Success
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on March 26, 1968, country music singer and songwriter Kenneth Arnold "Kenny" Chesney has recorded 20 albums to date, 14 of which have gone gold or higher. It was during his time at East Tennessee State University that he got his start as a young musician in a college band, writing his own songs and playing at local bars. Following graduation, he packed up and set off to Nashville to follow his dreams. He first went gold with Me and You in 1996. Just a few years later, Kenny Chesney was one of the biggest names in country music. His following truly took off after the 2002 release of "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem" that eventually inspired the die-hard No Shoes Nation culture and fan base. No matter what, one thing remains true - Kenny Chesney tickets for his summer tours sell out in a matter of minutes.
The artist's biggest hits include "Anything But Mine," "Don't Blink," "Come Over," "Summertime," "You and Tequila," and his newest song, "Wild Child." The prominent singer has received hundreds of nods, nominations and awards over the years. Kenny Chesney was named Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards for the first time in 2004, but it didn't stop there. He received the accolade again in 2006, 2007, and in 2008 the award tied him with the legendary country musician Garth Brooks for most wins of the CMA's top recognition. Most recently, Chesney was honored with the ACM Milestone Award at the 50th annual Academy of Country Music Awards.
Considered a traditionalist in his early career, Chesney has said that two of his biggest influencers were George Strait and Jon Bon Jovi.
