Perfectly located to act as a gateway to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, Jackson, Wyoming, sees more than a million tourists each year, though it is home to less than 10,000 residents. It sits in a valley called Jackson Hole and is sometimes erroneously referred to by that name. Jackson is an exciting place to visit for those who enjoy nature. It's home to the National Museum of Wildlife Art, the Laurance Rockefeller Preserve and the National Elk Refuge.
Jackson is served by the Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), the only commercial airport in the United States that is located inside of a national park, Grand Teton. The airport is small and picturesque, located at the base of the Teton Mountains. Many of Jackson's hotel options and lodges offer airport pickup for guests. If that's not an option, though, taxis are readily available.
The Jackson Hole Valley offers some protection from the elements, but still gets cold in the winter. Lows are typically in the single digits Fahrenheit, but it's not uncommon to see the thermometer dip below zero. To heat things up a bit, try the nightlife at the bars on West Broadway. For a more sophisticated evening out, the Grand Teton Music Festival features performances of classical music during the summer, and on select dates throughout the year.
