"We stayed 2 nights and had a good night's sleep both nights. We had breakfast on the last morning, and that was excellent. The hotel is being refurbished externally and is having a new roof, so the building is covered in scaffolding. Clearly, this isn't attractive; however, it shows the hotel is taking its final appearance seriously and ensuring that the hotel is in good condition. "

"If you appreciate the age and history of an old building you'll love it here. Our room was large, original windows and cornicing. Bathroom was a little dated but had a good shower. Good buffet breakfast in large ornate dining room, looking out onto Cardiff Castle. Reception and cleaning staff very friendly."

"Beautiful hotel and grounds. The buffet breakfast was excellent - one of the best I have had. The spa is very relaxing and spacious. Take note: you have to book your slot in the pool / jacuzzi, so plan ahead if you can."
