Twenty-three miles of beachfront are waiting for visitors who are flying to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) from Denver. Deerfield Beach features a unique water-skiing park, and Hillsboro Beach has a historic lighthouse and the Barefoot Mailman memorial. Visit Pompano Beach, which is popular for water sports, and Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Guests are able to enjoy swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving at this serene beach village.
Once you have your rental car, leave the airport on Highway 9 and drive north into the city. Unique attractions include the Museum of Discovery and Science, which contains a number of interactive exhibits focused on ecology, health and space exploration.
Within Broward County Park, guests find Butterfly World where, on any given day, 50 species of the popular insect inhabit the open-air aviary. You can also experience the Everglades at the 60-acre Flamingo Gardens, which houses a large selection of native animals and plants. If you want a break from driving, then consider touring the city by waterfront by taking a riverboat ride up New River.
The flight from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Fort Lauderdale takes a little more than two hours. Explore some of the city's history by touring the Victorian-era Bonnet House Museum & Gardens or the Stranahan House. Both properties feature period-appropriate decor and furnishings.
