Insider tips for Miami travel

Beaches

Sunbathers and beach explorers alike will enjoy the Virginia Key Beach, conveniently located adjacent the Miami Seaquarium.

Metromover

When traveling through downtown Miami, take advantage of the Metromover. Not only does it come at no expense to you, but you will also be able to savor the ideal picturesque locations.

Nighttime Entertainment

From concerts and disco parties to comedy shows, Miami offers you the best nighttime entertainment. Try out Chalk at Washington Avenue and the Blackbird Ordinary at Southwest First Avenue.

International Palate

Miami caters to an international palate from Michy’s Restaurant, which offers a quaint selection of comfort Mediterranean food, to a fine-dining gastronomic expense at Tantra Restaurant & Lounge, located on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Biscayne National Park of Miami

The Biscayne National Park of Miami is the last living tropical reef reserve standing in the continental U.S and is home to a rare collection of coral reefs with a myriad of fish species.

Miami highlights

Coral Castle

History is filled with stories of what men have done for love – and many monuments to those actions remain. While it's no Taj Mahal, the Coral Castle is one such remnant. Jilted by his fiance, Latvian eccentric Edward Leedskalnin emigrated to Miami and spent 28 years building a monument to his lost love from stone and coral. Legends abound about his superhuman powers, as it is said he moved chunks of stone as though they were weightless.

Everglades National Park

For a walk (or ride) on the wild side, a trip to Florida's famous Everglades is a must on any Miami vacation. These subtropical wetlands are home to a host of critters, including fish, birds, snakes, the Florida panther and alligators. Visit an alligator farm to get up close with the endangered reptiles or simply tour the National Park at your leisure. Week-long entry fees are $10 per vehicle and just $5 for pedestrians and cyclists.

South Beach

Rub shoulders with the rich and famous on Miami's flashy South Beach. While there's more than ample opportunity to spend some serious cash, there's thankfully more than enough free sun, surf and people-watching to keep you occupied on a Miami travel experience.

Cultural Fridays in Little Havana

Watch Little Havana's Calle Ocho (8th Avenue) turn into a vibrant outdoor gallery, flooded with artisans, musicians and street performers. Held from 6:30-11:30 p.m. on the last Friday of each month, it's free and includes walking tours of Little Havana. Viernes Culturales is the perfect way to explore the artistic side of the city on your Miami travels.

Miami Art Museum

On Sundays and the second Saturday of each month, the Miami Art Museum offers free admission. Boasting an incredible array of contemporary art, the museum is a great way to explore another side to the aesthetically-obsessed city. Be sure to check out the Spanish and African sections to get an idea of the heritage of many residents on your Miami travels.
