That being said, there is a lot to see, especially if you plan on visiting Miami as well, since it is just 23 miles south. The best way to get around is by car, but there is local transportation available from the airport in the form of cabs, or via Broward County Transit, the bus system in the area.
FLL is located right in Fort Lauderdale and is accessible via I595. Major beaches are only about a ten minute drive from the airport.
Even if you are only in Fort Lauderdale for a short time, there is a lot to see. For those who like music and/or gambling, the Seminole Hard Rock Casino is about eight miles away. If you are interested in outdoor activities, tours of the Everglades are popular, and several tour operators are available near the airport.
