Honolulu International (HNL) Airport sits on the island of Oahu, six miles away from downtown Honolulu. Because of the proximity, buses, taxis and shuttles are a convenient choice to get to the airport. Flight times are usually a little over five hours to Portland International (PDX) Airport. One of the easiest ways to get into downtown Portland is to take the MAX Red Line light rail. Rental cars, taxis and shuttles are also available.
It is no secret that people make their way to Portland, also known as the City of Roses, to spend time outdoors. Washington Park offers Japanese Gardens, as well as the International Rose Test Garden. In the same area, you will find the Oregon Zoo. The Tom McCall Waterfront Park is another great way to spend some time outdoors. Special events are often located in this area, however even if nothing special is scheduled, it is still well worth the visit. You can head over to the RiverPlace neighborhood to enjoy some local seafood dishes or pick up souvenirs in one of the many shops.
Summertime is an ideal time to visit Portland, as the temperatures are nice and you can take advantage of the numerous outdoor activities. While the wintertime is cool, people are still spending time outside enjoying any number of winter sports including skiing. Regardless of when you visit, be sure to bring along a comfortable pair of shoes.
