Springing out of the college scene

Growing up in Detroit, Mikael Temrowski was seeped in one of the best musical cultures in the country from an early age. But while Motown might have been an inspiration, his own musical journey would be strikingly different. He started seriously working on his music when he was a student at Michigan State University, first putting it on YouTube under the moniker "Mike T." As Quinn XCII, he became popular on the college scene, with his childhood friend Ayokay producing his music. Quinn XCII snagged the nation's attention with his dynamic sound, roaming through different genres with his beats. His first EP came out in 2015, his popularity quickly rising among college kids. The next year he followed up his debut with Bloom and a national tour. His first full-length album, The Story of Us, featured hit singles like "Iron & Steel," "Worst," and "Fake Denim."
