There are only a few restaurants nearby, but the Octavia restaurant on the corner of Octavia and Sutter is outstanding. Additionally, the hotel is very nice with a very helpful staff .

There is no air conditioning. Which is fine for SF. However when I asked the staff about it, she talked to me like I was stupid and asked me if I had opened the windows, and if I had a fan In my room. It was rude, and off putting. All anje had to say was “ this is an old building there is no air conditioner”. Also didn’t seem to be an ice machine, on any floor. Even though there was an ice bucket. Everything else was great. Would stay again, but Id bring my own ice.

The hotel is ok! Common areas are beautiful. Our room was VERY uncomfortable. Noisy, warm and stuffy! No air conditioning - just a fan that made more noise than anything else. Staff is not friendly at all. We are not going to stay there again!!

Wonderful 1800s building with amazing detail. Every room is different and apparently only one is haunted (!). Great walkable location, good parking, and make sure you stop by for the nightly sherry and cookies!

Not enough variety for breakfast. It would be better to add things like scrambled eggs, yogurt, cream for the coffee (there was only milk and half and half), mixed fruit, and French toast. I was disappointed about the breakfast. Otherwise clean, beautiful surroundings, friendly desk staff.

The history and decor here is fun! Everything worked well. The breakfast was pretty comprehensive - not just a token as it is in many hotels. The best part is that the area is relatively quiet but close to beautiful parks and entertainment venues so we didn’t have to drive much.

Really nice hotel with a throwback to old Victorian style. Felt right at home. If I had to make one note, it’s that the room was quite warm and we had to open the windows to a noisy street to cool it overnight. Otherwise it was wonderful.
