Property was very dated. Didn't have water for part of our stay. My room was clean, but the room I got for my kids smelled terrible. The staff is friendly and the location is good.

the Maria Candalaria is an old fading beauty. But it is right near the downtown close to either bus station. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. The air conditioner was loud but kept us cool. My wife recently had back surgery so the pool (1 M deep) helped her with the ability to do low impact exercises.

You can hear the loud music from the clubs at the back of the hotel. It's in an excellent location. It has a cool pool but lots of families with children use it and it gets dirty. You can use it in the day after the water has been cleaned. Perhaps through no fault of the hotel, the water was often turned off. TV, Wifi and air/con were all good. Beds weren't the best. There was no mattress covers on the beds and so the sheets just slid off everytime you got up. There was a little fridge in the room.

Nice hotel close to everything

Check in was a breeze. The room was a little outdated but comfortable. The bed was heavenly. One step away from 5th Avenue. Noise pollution at night was minimal. Price was a give away based on location.

As close as you can get for the $$$

A fun place to stay, friendly staff, close to the beach and almost anything that you need. On the negative side, hot water is unpredictable, no coffee pot. I highly recommend it if you like to travel on the cheap. Oh, great outdoor seating area with wifi. Walmart nearby!!!

Nice staff, terrible hotel condition

The bathroom was disappointing. The room may have been clean but it was hard to tell with the rundown condition it was in. It was also very loud in this area. Convenient location, however. Super close to beach, shopping, and bus station.

Very uncomfortable place to stay

The AC was very noisy, loud music from around nightclubs that started from 9 p.m. through 5-6 am. Not able to sleep at all. Ask staff to change rooms and they did not want it even though there were rooms available on the other side of the building.

Clean hotel, friendly staff

The staff was very courteous and obliging. The only real issue here is something beyond the control of the hotel operator. That is the neighboring bar/disco on the left side of the hotel that starts music around 10pm-2am each night that reverberates throughout the room. If you are young and out at these times this hotel is for you, or if you are a heavy sleeper or drinker you could sleep through it. But if this issue was remedied the hotel would be 5 stars.

Needs upgrades

If you are young and don't care where you sleep this place is okay for you. It has hard mattresses, very old towels and it's not clean. You also share room with cacaroach. Price was high.

excellent budget hotel

I wanted a budget hotel which offered vicinity to the beach and 5th ave. the hotel met these basic requirements of mine. air conditioned room. friendly staff. wifi. room service. safe. a few nightclubs are nearby and it can get noisy even at 4 am. was ok for me. would go again. recommended

Great location as far as close to everything but..

There is a bar/club next door and the music plays until 5am every night. Rooms are very basic. Great as far as proximity to everything including beach. Staff speak little to no English

Second time I stayed there... Not only they stole money that i had in my luggage while i was out having dinner... I spoke to the manager and obviously he didn't do anything. The room was really dated n dirty... I usually go to Playa del Carmen and this time came back with 0 desire to go back ( be aware of the people that act too friendly they always have a back up plan to take what they can from u...specially if u go to Isla mujeres they rent golf cars n take u to houses with beaches dont live ur belongings unattended ever or with someone that u meet there) be careful! Kala Golf cats rental - Alvaro Burgos is a theft

This is an older hotel. The pool was a joke. And was across the street from a pub/ club so very loud the music doesn't stop until 6:00am. Hotel staff wasn't courteous we cancelled our reservations after 1 night

Lovely hotel with lovely staff and very close to everything, however if you plan on getting any sleep perhaps try somewhere else. There are quite a few extremely loud, late night bars that play loud music to early hours and one bar that has a live band playing from midnight to 5am EVERY night.

The hotel is perfectly located closed to Cocobongos, la quinta ave, like 3 blocks away from the beach and other clubs/ Ado. On the other hand I have to be honest is a lil old-dated but if u just want a place to crash there u go. I stayed in the one that has the balcony and it was like a lil apt. The noise wasn't an issue cz who goes to Playa to sleep?!lol... Front desk people were extremely nice!!!

Great little hotel!

Booked one night online and decided to stay an extra night! Close to everything in Playa, rooms a little outdated but the price was right and the staff are friendly and I felt very safe in the area!

Great if you party all night

Simple hotel with great beds and warm shower. Rooms are clean but location is super noisy at night and most aircos seem broke. So a great place to be if you come to Playa to party at night and sleep during the day
