Bloomington is situated between Minneapolis and the Minnesota state capital, St. Paul. This once quiet bedroom community is now well-known as a booming center for business, including healthcare, retail and medical research. Bloomington is also home of the Hyland Lake Park Reserve and Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, which offer places for you to hike, bike and observe the area's abundant wildlife. Be sure to visit the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers where you can see migratory birds.
Bloomington is serviced by the Minneapolis - St. Paul International Airport (MSP). After leaving the airport, take I-494 to I-35W, which splits the community into two. The east side of Bloomington is mostly residential and offers neighborhoods such as Oak Grove, with plenty of community parks. On the west side of Bloomington, you'll find established industrial, commercial and retail centers, including the Mall of America, the largest shopping mall in the United States. You’ll find many hotel options dotted around the city.
Bloomington’s weather can be hot and humid with thunderstorms in the summer, while in the winter, expect cold and windy days and the potential for heavy snow. If you're in town in the winter, be sure to try out the Nordic ski jumps at the Minneapolis Ski Club. Several Olympians have perfected their craft at this urban ski area.
