It was back on January 9 of this year that Jason Aldean announced his plans for his upcoming 2014 tour on the morning television show “Good Morning America”. The singer, known best for his country music hit When She Says Baby, will be touring in nearly 50 cities this summer on his “Night Train Tour” and he’s bringing some good friends along, including Florida Georgia Line and Tyler Farr.
Aldean has actually partnered with Major League Baseball for this year’s tour and, prior to his announcement back in January, he and his team were busy leaking clues to the upcoming tour on his Facebook page, including baseball seat pictures, pictures of books of matches and even a picture of Screech, actor Dustin diamond from the television show Saved by the Bell.
Most of the dates and cities have now been confirmed for the tour and tickets have long been sold out on the Live Nation ticket website. Some of the baseball stadium locations that were confirmed for this year’s tour included Nationals Park in Washington, DC, Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Aldean will also be playing in other large venues including LSU’s Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the 25th of May. In 2013 Aldean played a couple of shows at Fenway Park in Boston and Wrigley Field in Chicago and, during his interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America back in January, he told the host that he had always wanted to be a professional baseball player but also confessed that “the problem is, I didn’t have any power.”
Interestingly enough, Aldean was actually given a full scholarship to play college baseball but decided not to because, as he putit, he was “tired of school”.
Aldean has sold over 8 ½ million records and also has 13 #1 hits to his name. In 2012 is out of Training went platinum and one of the reasons why was his voice on the album, which Entertainment Weekly magazine called “epic”.
The singer has broken attendance records at over 40 different venues and his tours have sold over 2 million tickets. It’s not unusual for tickets to one of his concerts to sell out within minutes. In 2012 Aldean won 2 different Country Music Association awards, including Album of the Year for My Kinda Party, the top selling country album of 2011 and, across all genres, the fifth best-selling album as well. That same album had five consecutive #1 hits including Dirt Road Anthem, which went Triple Platinum.
